April 1938. The Gathering Storm is the second novel in the Rogues Trilogy. The story continues from Churchill's Rogue when Winston Churchill asked a former adversary, Sean Ryan, for his help to find a woman and child who were being hunted by The Alpha Wolves. The Alpha Wolves, selected from the most ruthless within the SS and the Gestapo, are led by Major Klaus Krak, better known by his enemies â€" he has no friends â€" as Cerberus. Ryan encounters others, collectively known as the Rogues, who are also helping families persecuted by the Nazis. Many were killed in Churchill's Rogue and now the survivors' bloody clashes with the Nazis' elite assassins take them from Europe to the United States and the Soviet Union. The conflicts between the Rogues continue to rage, reflecting the contrasting ideologies and cultures of their countries, along with their bitter personal rivalries.Meanwhile, Winston Churchill continues to be a lone voice warning the democratic nations of the world of the war to come â€" but they refuse to listen. Now, on the eve of the Nazis' advance across Europe, the German High Command issues the order that Cerberus has been waiting for.
