Do you not just love a town you can visit and re-visit? Fool's Gold is definitely that town. Susan Mallery makes the town and characters come alive and make you wish you could move in and become a part of the community.
Who can resist a strong alpha cowboy that tries to hide a nurturing heart and a woman that will fight for who and what she loves. Susan Mallery weaves a tale of romance between two people with opposite dreams that must learn to take a chance on love. Located in the small town of Fool's Gold, CA where everyone knows your business but loves you anyway, Susan has succeeded in creating a place where you want to keep visiting. SUMMER DAYS is a refreshing adventure that keeps you turning the page. Can't wait for the next two books coming out this summer: SUMMER NIGHTS and ALL SUMMER LONG.
If your looking for a great beach or rainy day book to read
than look no further than "Summer Days" by Susan Mallery. She's back and continuing her very successful "Fool's Gold" series with three books this summer starting with "Summer Days." I absolutely loved this book and devoured the book in one session. Ms. Mallery has a way of making you sure you want to hate the "bad guy", in this case Rafe Stryker, but still infuses him with enough hidden sensitivity that hating him becomes impossible. The woman he's antagonizing,, Heidi Simpson, is so loving and caring that you want to dislike Rafe for being a hunky millionaire out to protect his mother's interests in a farm due to her that Heidi owns but is in danger of losing because her grandfather borrowed $250,000 from Rafe's mother May to pay for an old friends cancer treatment. The problem lies in that Glen, Heidi's grandfather and only parent she's ever known, can't pay back the money and the only option seems to be that Heidi has to relinquish her home, Castle Ranch, to May Stryker. But the Judge presiding over the case has a different idea and gives them an ultimatum to try to work this out on their own.
Before you know it, Rafe and May have moved into Castle Ranch and all kinds of mayhem ensues. With it's sweet moments between Rafe and Heidi and Oh My Goodness are Glen and May sleeping together type of sub plots, this book will grip you from the first word to the last and surprise you through the middle. In "Fools Gold", anything is possible from run away goats to newly bought elephants. I won't ruin the ending for you. Come on down to "Fool's Gold" yourself and see why we who love the series keep begging Susan Mallery for more. Following "Summer Days", you'll want to pre-order "Summer Nights". That's the first thing I wanted to do when I finished this wonderful book which left my heart happy. I hope it leaves your heart happy too
Susan's Fool's Gold series is my absolute favorite. Not only do you wish the town and characters were real, you feel like it all is. Susan goes above and beyond other authors by giving us updates between the stories and after the HEA through her website. I really enjoyed Rafe and Heidi's story. Their love bloomed gradually and they were both really real characters. I look forward to reading more about our favorite fictional town this summer :D
I enjoyed this very much but it's not my favorite in the series...
Heidi's grandfather has really done it this time! Wow! How is Heidi ever going to fix this?
Heidi's grandfather has sold her ranch - except he doesn't own it - to an unsuspecting widow. Sure, it was for a good reason but it was a scam nonetheless. Now, the widow's powerful arrogant son is here demanding retribution. He wants the money or the ranch. Except, Heidi doesn't have the money and she won't give up the first home she's ever had.
The judge thinks they should compromise.
I love the Fool's Gold series by Susan Mallery. All of the books are different--some are more serious, and some are downright hilarious! It keeps the story line fresh and I don't feel like "Oh, I've read this before; this is just like the last one." Rafe and his siblings lost their father at an early age and Rafe had to become the "man of the house". He's never been able to let that responsibility go. Heidi is so glad to finally have roots, after traveling most of her life, she'll do anything to stay there. I really enjoyed getting to know this new family and can't wait to meet the other siblings. Now, I just wish there was a real Fool's Gold!
Dear Susan Mallery,
I'm not surprised that I fell in love with your newest Fool's Gold book, Summer Days. As a loyal reader and huge fan, I loved getting to know Heidi, Rafe, May, and Glen better and found myself a slave to finishing Summer Days within one day. I love how you tied in how Rafe and Heidi are so much alike, but got that way from two very different perspectives on love. I laughed along with the characters who live in Fool's Gold, but especially loved drunk Heidi and her ramblings. Your Fool's Gold shows town loyalty that never waivers and ends up even surprising your most cynical of readers (sure I may fall into that category if you are really wondering). Rafe is a hunk of man who I am sure I will dream about because like all of your characters, he is not perfect which makes him so much more real and relatable to life in general. I love May's perspective on ranching and how it is not just for horses or cows or even chickens anymore, it expands through the animal kingdom. Glen being a handsome devil with quick wit finally got a dose of what real love is like and I can already tell in your upcoming books he will be whipped. Heidi is a very strong character who seems to bring sunshine wherever she goes and even if she's in a sullen mood. In short, I adored this edition to the Fool's Gold Series and cannot wait to read about another cowboy in the near future. Heidi and Rafe make me laugh and I love how their relationship wasn't all smooth sailing. I'd say keep up the good work, but we both know you are already brilliant and will continue to write stories that drawn readers into towns, families, and love.
Loyal Reader and Fan
Another home run for Mallery! Fool's Gold is the land of happy endings and we are lucky enough to get to read another one with Summer Days.
Rafe Stryker, the first of the Stryker brothers featured in Fool's Gold, is a perfect hero. He's tough, rough under his polished exterior, and throughout the book you see his softer side coming through. The book begins with Rafe heading to his mother's rescue over a dispute regarding the home of a new Fool's Gold resident, Heidi. Heidi owns a goat farm. Really, a goat farm! Their love story begins with perfect sexual tension running beneath dislike. As each character sees more depth in each other they grow softer and the passion ignites.
Speaking of passion...it's well written and HOT! We all know the real reason we read Romance Novels. Mallery does it with class that leaves you satisfied.
If you are looking for a nice summer read that won't tax your brain and gives you a happy ending, this is the perfect book. You won't regret your purchase!
What else can I say other than I love it?!!! As with the rest of the Fool's Gold series Summer Days pulls you in from the get go. Susan Mallery brings the characters to life in such a way that makes you wish you were a citizen of Fool's Gold. I love how from one book to the next you can catch up with your favorite characters from previous books too. I'm a huge fan of all the Fool's Gold books and recommend Summer Days to one and all!!
I love Susan Mallery & Fool's Gold!! Rafe & Heidi has a great chemistry together even though they are both stubborn. I feel so bad for Heidi, who finally has a home of her own. Rafe swore he would never go back to Fool's Gold, but he did it for his mother. I love May. She was something else! If you are looking for a good romance book, then this is it! You won't be disappointed!
