Detective Daniel Stillwater is a widowed father trying to raise his daughter in a safe world. They are both still distraught over the death of the wife/mother to breast cancer. Since her diagnosis, Daniel has committed himself to be a God-fearing devout father to his daughter, and to never leave her again. His new case is capturing more of his heart than any other case ever has.
Elena Segura has already had tragedy in her life. She was adopted by her parents after she watched her real father kill her mother. Now she's facing tragedy again when she walks into her antique store and finds her employee in a pool of blood. Her murder isn't understood, but for some reason, Elena seems to have something the killer wants.
This is a VERY predictable story. I was able to figure out who the killer was from the beginning. The ex-husband was a nice twist. This was a very short book. I was able to get the whole thing read within a busy day. I think that Elena and Daniel complimented each other romantically and was happy to see them get together. Always love a story where stolen kisses are innocent and no "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that" are followed up to it!
