Series Premise

Like the main Rainbow Magic series, the Special Editions follow best friends Rachel Walker and Kirsty Tate (later joined by Gracie Adebayo and Khadijah Khan in more recent stories), two human girls who are secret friends of the fairies. In each Special Edition, the girls meet a new fairy (or group of fairies) whose magic is essential to a particular holiday, season, or special event (e.g., Christmas cheer, Easter eggs, Valentine's love, summer fun). Jack Frost and his clumsy goblin minions steal the fairy's magical objects or interfere with the event, causing chaos in both Fairyland and the human world (e.g., Christmas without presents, a ruined Easter egg hunt, or a Valentine’s Day without love). Rachel and Kirsty travel to Fairyland or the affected location, help the fairy recover the magic, outwit the goblins, and restore balance—often in time for the holiday or event to be saved.

Rainbow Magic: Special Editions Series Reading Order

🟡 Mostly Standalone · Start Anywhere

Mostly standalone stories with recurring characters in a shared setting.

The Special Editions are standalone (no strict reading order required), longer than the standard 7-book themed series (e.g., Rainbow Fairies, Weather Fairies), and often feel like mini-trilogies in one volume (divided into 3 parts with 5 chapters each in some editions). They emphasize celebration, kindness, teamwork, and the magic of holidays/special occasions.

Explanation of reading order types

Rainbow Magic: Special Editions Series Characters

> Rachel Walker and Kirsty Tate: Best friends and main human heroines (around 8–9 years old). Rachel is bold and adventurous; Kirsty is thoughtful and creative. They are polite, responsible, and enthusiastic—role models for kindness and bravery. In newer books, Gracie Adebayo and Khadijah Khan join as additional friends.
> The Special Edition Fairies: Each book introduces a new fairy (or group) tied to the theme—e.g., Holly the Christmas Fairy (spreads holiday joy), Juliet the Valentine Fairy (brings love and romance), Mia the Bridesmaid Fairy (helps weddings), Eliza the Easter Bunny Fairy (hides eggs), Olympia the Games Fairy (Olympic spirit), Stella the Star Fairy (wishes and dreams), etc. Fairies are tiny, winged, sparkly, and kind; they rely on the girls to help recover stolen magic.
> Jack Frost and his goblins: The main villains—Jack Frost is selfish, jealous, and greedy (often wants the magic for himself); the goblins are bumbling, clumsy, and comical (they steal but always mess up). They provide light conflict without being truly scary.
> Other fairies (Rainbow Fairies, Weather Fairies, etc.): Cameo in some specials, but the focus is on the featured holiday/event fairy.

Setting of the Rainbow Magic: Special Editions Series

The dual world of Fairyland and the human world (primarily the U.K., with the girls' homes in England). Fairyland is a colorful, enchanted realm of fairy palaces, gardens, rainbow bridges, sparkling rivers, and magical creatures—always bright and beautiful. The human world features cozy homes, schools, parks, beaches, and holiday settings (snowy winters for Christmas, sunny beaches for summer, egg hunts for Easter, etc.). Locations often tie to the special occasion (Santa's workshop, Valentine’s castle, Easter Bunny burrow, summer vacation spots). The settings are whimsical and safe—no real danger, just magical problems to fix.

Tone & Themes of the Rainbow Magic: Special Editions Series

Bright, cheerful, gentle, and magical—classic early-reader fairy fantasy with a positive, empowering vibe. The tone is light-hearted and joyful: adventures are exciting but never scary, problems are solved through friendship and bravery, and every story ends happily with the holiday/event saved and the fairies' magic restored. Humor is gentle and kid-friendly (goblins' clumsiness, silly mistakes, funny misunderstandings), while emotional moments focus on kindness, sharing, and caring for others. The books are uplifting and reassuring—perfect for young readers who love fairies, holidays, and feel-good stories with simple morals (teamwork, bravery, helping others). The writing is accessible, repetitive in structure (for early reading confidence), and filled with wonder and sparkle.

The Rainbow Magic Special Editions are a sparkling, joyful celebration of holidays, friendship, and magic—perfect for young readers who love fairies and festive adventures. Daisy Meadows delivers simple, enchanting stories where Rachel and Kirsty team up with beautiful fairies to save special occasions from Jack Frost's mischief, teaching gentle lessons about kindness, teamwork, and bravery along the way. With dozens of longer, standalone books full of glitter, wonder, and happy endings, the series offers comforting, uplifting reading that ties into real-world celebrations (Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, summer fun) and encourages imagination. A timeless, feel-good favorite for early readers—a magical gateway to the enchanting world of Rainbow Magic.
