In Amsterdam in 1969, activist student organizations devise plans to occupy the administrative center of the university. Student Vincent Haman goes to collect intelligence information on their plans. There he becomes intrigued by the rebellious behavior of his fellow students. Eager for action, friendship, and love, he roams the city. He comes to realize he has to make a choice. The realistic events bring the reader back to the turbulent days in May of 1969 in Amsterdam. Johannes Maas (Tilburg, 1944) was studying at the University of Amsterdam in 1969. He was active in Provo and the Vietnam demonstrations. In 1969, he became involved with the democracy movement at the university. After those turbulent years, he taught at the Sint-Odulphuslyceum in Tilburg.
