Peter is in bed, but he does not want to sleep. Peter is afraid that witches would come into his bedroom. His mother heard him crying and went to comfort him. She told him a story about a sweet little witch. Anneke Baan was born in Kenya. As a child, she invented endless stories. Later, as a mother and working as a teaching assistant, the stories kept coming. Her mother, Tilleke Baan-Laban, urged her to write them, and together, they worked on the book.
