Samantha Hanson has been haunted by nightmares since her best friend died ten years ago. The death was ruled as an accidental shooting but Samantha has never believed that conclusion. It has taken ten years, but Samantha is finally ready to come forward to share her friend's secret; a secret that may be the key piece of evidence pointing to the possibility that it was not an accident at all. Samantha gains an unlikely ally in her attempt to prove that the decade old closed case, was in fact a murder; the object of her best friend's first teenage crush. Samantha finds that she is not immune to the handsome man, her friend's crush has grown into. Kerrick Jameson is blown away by the beautiful woman that he finds trespassing in his mother's yard and feels instantly compelled to help her in her quest. Solving a decade old possible murder case is hampered by the sizzling attraction that is rapidly building between Samantha and Kerrick; as each one desperately tries to keep their concentration on the task at hand. Excerpt: “Do you think the chief will be agreeable to re-opening the case?” She had to attempt to return her focus in the direction it needed to be maintained if her mission was going to succeed. “I think there is a good possibility. We have uncovered some pretty compelling evidence, even if it is circumstantial. It definitely casts a shadow of doubt over the earlier conclusion. I will let you know after work tomorrow how it goes.” The familiarity of knowing that they would be spending another evening together the following evening caused an unexplained warmth to spread through her body. Even if the case was never resolved; she was glad that she had come back to Willow and met Kerrick. In another life, maybe she and Kerrick could have actually gotten to know each other; maybe even dated. In another life, maybe Jenny would have lived and Samantha's life would not have been so scarred by losing her best friend. There was no use in thinking about things that could never be. Jenny was gone. Samantha's life was scarred. And she and Kerrick would never share anything other than an interest in solving the decade old case; except maybe a few meals. And a few kisses.
