What Goes Around, a work of historical fiction, recounts the events leading up to the death of Harold, King of England, at the Norman Conquest led by his cousin and arch rival William Duke of Normandy. Such events include Harold's visits to the Norman coast; his friendship with Edward the Confessor, then King of England; and his attempts to counter the Duke's attempts to bully his way to the English throne. What Goes Around, although fiction, is solidly based upon the real-life encounters between Harold, King of England and his power-hungry cousin across the English Channel, William, the Duke of Normandy. The novel includes as well an examination of another character, a twentieth century boat-builder, Harry Godwin, his adventures on the Pacific coast and his eventual and fateful encounter with Harold at the Bayeux tapestry.
