The court of Henry VIII is not a safe place to be in the dying days of one queen and the ascendancy of another. Philip, caught in the plots of great men, finds himself a double agent, fated to betray a master or a friend. Fleeing London, he makes his way to the ancient shrine of Walsingham, through a land wracked by Reformation and economic decline.
