Tim runs away from home to escape the beatings of his alcoholic father. When the violence is too severe, he goes into foster homes. Tim discovers the joy of bushwalking when he runs away. He makes a friend in the bush. Nathan becomes his best friend as he learns valuable lessons from Nathan's family. Bushwalking becomes his path to freedom and a better life. Can he join this family or is there another place where he can escape his father?
