I am Anne Jordan and this is about me, well just a little bit! I was born in Ripon North Yorkshire and moved to Leicester in 1978 after getting married. ‘I have a dream. * is a well known start to the life changing speech that Martin Luther King delivered in 1963 in which he movingly called for the end of racial inequality and discrimination. I listened to these words in church one Sunday morning and it made me think, what is MY dream? At the time I was a Skills for Life tutor, working mainly with adults with learning difficulties and or disabilities but also with people with literacy needs and I have also taught adults recovering from mental health problems. I retired from my job in June 2013. I began writing in 2007. All my stories have characters with a learning difficulty or a physical disability in them. At the end of some of my stories I have written a short ‘Fact byte' about the disability / learning difficulty mentioned in the story. My dream for the future is that dignity and acceptance for those perceived as ‘different' will replace discrimination in all its repugnant forms. I hope you enjoy reading these stories. Anne Jordan. *Quote from Martin Luther King 1929-1968 “I have a dream” in his speech delivered on his March on Washington rally, for jobs and freedom.
