Up From the Past — Carol King

On a cold, Halloween evening, an unspeakable terror was unleashed in the small West Texas university town of Canyon, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle. A student at the local University was murdered in a most hideous manner. Usually a peaceful, serene town, the murder caused collective shock and fear, changing the very nature of the town. Citizens were afraid to leave their homes at night. When other similar murders followed, panic and fright ran rampant. If fell upon the broad shoulders of Sheriff Slade McCoy, a newly arrived ex-Dallas cop, along with his side-kick One-Eye, the meanest bulldog in town, and his staff to solve these mysterious murders, and bring the unholy perpetrator to justice. DNA evidence found on the scene of the murders stunned the local authorities. It indicated that the killer was a prehistoric monster, not seen on the earth for the last five million years. With the near loss of his and his girlfriend's lives, Slade pursued this relic from the past, until the mystery was solved. The conclusion terrified and saddened the entire town, which would never be the same.
