For Franz Wolff, honour on the battlefield was part of his heritage. Joining up as a Nazi against his father's wishes, he found himself a wounded veteran, enrolled as a guard in Auschwitz camp. In the camp, he fell in love with Elena a Jewess from Slovakia.
