Q. What is unique about the Shaolin Darkness series?

A. I'm a great fan of best-selling thriller writers like Russell Blake, James Patterson and the late Robert Ludlum. Their action, intrigue and suspense are amazing. I want to write books like that but with my own unique spin.

As a Chinese born in America, I grew up watching Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali, reading Mario Puzo and Amy Tan. I want to integrate East and West into my novels: Shaolin martial arts training, organized crime, Triads, the Tao, Confucius, Christianity, Hong Kong, New York, Shanghai, Portland. Stories that show the contemporary world as a multicultural and multi-dimensional society.
