The Snafued Snatch — Jackie Griffey

Two young would-be crooks disappointed with the take from convenience store robberies, decide to try kidnapping. They look at local businesses and decide to kidnap Hank Hanover's wife, Grace during a party Halloween night. All goes well except for one little hitch. They get Hank's cousin, Maggie, instead of Grace. With Maggie chloroformed and bound in the back of their van they call Hank at the party, tell him they have his wife, and the figure they have in mind is a hundred thousand dollars in small bills. Hank, full of good bourbon and looking at his wife across the room, laughs at them. He says the way Grace mpends money and credit he couldn't possibly take her back for a mere hundred grand, and hangs up on them. Maggie comes to in time to hear the demand for ransom and realizes she's been kidnapped. Her first reaction is a stifled laugh thinking of the difference in her bank balance and the demand until it dawns on her Joe may not even know she's gone, and what's going to happen to her when these too young idiots find out she's not Grace?
