Alyssa sneaked out of Captain Mac's shack and headed down to the charter boat. She hid below, under the bedcovers. But it hadn't been fun at all. The waves punched the boat with angry fists of water, and she felt sick and threw up. Her father had been furious when he found her on board, but it was too late by then. Her mother just held her close as the engine began to sputter. Alyssa's heart had never pounded so fast.

The sound of coughing suddenly jerked Alyssa away from her memory. She was glad. She didn't think she could stand to relive what had happened next.
