The Seventh Rule of Swimming is a between-book short story told from the point of view of Trey Seaver, one of my co-protagonists (the other is Tai Randolph, my narrator for all seven novels, and Trey's partner in both romance and crime-solving). This story isn't a mystery—it's more of a character exploration in an almost-deserted pool on the 4th of July—and it takes place very soon after Darker Than Any Shadow, the second book in the Tai & Trey series.
