On the 7th of April, 1974, four people ventured out of the Aukland, NA harbour destined for Sydney, AU. Of the four, only one had been to sea. The vessel had two sets of sails, no radio, little life-saving gear, no motor, and provisions for three weeks. The navigation plan was to sail three days north and turn left--Australia was so large, nobody could miss it. But the Sospan Fach did miss it and ended up on Middleton Reef, where they were marooned for weeks with only the fish they caught to eat. The three younger members--a student nurse, a teacher, and an apple picker, contemplated mutiny against an older man whom they considered crazy. This is based on a true story. Be sure to read the epilog.
