Controversial American author Mike Zander has the number one bestseller, "AN AMERICAN RIPPER" a novel about a Ripper style killing in New York three years after the spree in London ended. He goes to London to fulfill a lifelong ambition to find out the real identity of Jack the Ripper. Once there he journeys into the Abyss, the area of London around Whitechapel where the murders took place. He meets the great granddaughter of one of the Ripper's victims and even sees a photograph of the Ripper himself. The Autumn of Terror is brought brilliantly to life as Zander searches for the identity of the world's first serial killer. He has his own ideas about who he really was, that he was a failed actor and took his frustrations out on the women he butchered, starting with his wife. Once in London however he realizes the journey he's on isn't about the Ripper anymore.
