The battle scarred old war boat Sea Pride was the main target of the Vega brothers after getting out of prison. They knew that somewhere on the old boat was their money With the death of Max Hooper the boat went to his daughter Kalina and her girl Rogie Walker. Now Rogie was of an age to set off on her own and her mother Kalina was of a mind to take a fisherman as a mate and start her family all over again. Giving Rogie the old shot up boat was not without its difficulties as the drug lords in central America were determined to bomb the ship out of the water - which they did. Of course the Mermaid Rogie was in the ocean at the time, and the boat was not about to sink, still the cabin was burned beyond use. Taking the hull into Miami her real father built it up again, only this time to look like a Coast Guard ship. Hiding with the Coast Guard itself only started Rogie Walker on a new path of life hidden from the thieves who would try to kill her again. The Red Mermaid was born complete with the Coast Guard's blessings only to serve in the Cuban Straits off the Florida Keys where she began her life as the Sea Pride. Now she taught gill diving to selected men from both the Navy and the Guard. What better teacher to teach about gill diving than a Mermaid herself?
