THE RED BOOK is a departure for John Ashton. He felt compelled to create a liturgical essay on the sanctity of man, and that about did it. THE RED BOOK is almost a sin under the covers because ideally put, it is all about death and salvation, though that is not immediately apparent to the reader of his work. He often sublimates the message so deeply that only a cave-yogi can decipher it. Nevertheless, he manages to bequeath to the reader some sense of impending doom in the story basis throughout the text. And though it is subliminal, you can't exit without feeling like the roof of the sky is going to fall on your head. Incidentally, the Ashton also suggests that the root of all evil is in mincemeat pudding, though he doesn't quite say it like that. THE RED BOOK is also about sacrifice on another level, and even though that may not be obvious, you know that in this book someone is about to be sacrificed; you just hope it's not your dog. He also believes that generally, man is good but may need to be punished sometimes to remind him that he isn't a Saint yet. Published by Rodaian Press First Edition, Hardcover.
