My senses came fully awake. This was a feeling I usually only had during special assignments. We turned the corner and into the drive of the restaurant. The parking lot was full of people drinking and laughing. As we turned into the drive they all turned to look at us and began to come our way.“Turn around and get out of here,” I barked at DJ. He seemed to sense the same thing I did and backed into an empty space and then went roaring out toward the street. The crowd surrounded us and was beating on the windows.“Don’t stop. Just drive,” I said as I pushed down on DJ’s accelerator leg. The Odyssey sprang forward, knocking people down on both sides. A few ran along sided pounding on the side of the car. Inside it was absolutely quiet. The traffic at the main corner was going to be a problem. Three guys with knives in hand were running us down. They were being cheered on by the crowd standing in the middle of the street behind us.Years of training and practice came bubbling up inside me.
