About This Book

Janna stepped into the hallway. She froze with a choked scream. A white-sheeted figure was motionless midway up the stairs. Janna shrank back into the kitchen doorway. The apparition glided up the steps with not so much as a creak. It was as if it skimmed above them.

When Janna could no longer see the specter, she ran down the hall to her room. She closed her door swiftly, then leaned, trembling, against it.

"There are no ghosts," she told herself through chattering teeth. Of course there are no ghosts. Then what was it she had just seen? She shivered. Only a ghost could climb those squeaky steps soundlessly.

Fifteen-year-old Janna Edmundon was adopted. Although her adoptive family loved her, she had a strong desire to meet--and eventually live with--her great aunt, Agatha Louise Mitchell, her only living relative. But Janna didn't dream that her visit would be filled with mysterious happenings at her aunt's old house, Briar Rose Manor.
