The Music in Me — Renee Rainville

A colorful children's picture book, The Music in Me celebrates the beauty of the music which surrounds us. Our young lad awakens to the melodious songs of the birds outside his window which soon have him humming cheerfully along. As his senses sharpen, an uncontrollable rhythm has him hopping and dancing all over the house! Nighttime brings a close to the movement of the day as the beating of his heart leads him into a dreamland filled with his love of music. This three-part book is accompanied by a downloadable CD, containing swing, techno/dance, and a lullaby. Intended to stimulate the auditory needs of children, as well as to increase the literary strategies of visualization, sequence, detail, rhythm, and rhyming, parents and teachers alike can access a website that features more than 15 downloadable activities and lesson plans for The Music in Me. Author Renee Rainville is a teacher who believes there is a need for more literature that stimulates children's senses. Originally from Meriden, Connecticut, she currently lives in Monterrey, Mexico, with her husband and two children. She is working on her next book, Carrie's Song. Full-time illustrator and painter, Roberta Cleontes dedicates her spare time to promoting children's creative abilities.
