Choosing a site for this adventure/romance story was easy. Grand Island lies just a bit over a mile from Munising, Michigan. It was owned by the Cleveland Cliff Iron Company until 1990 when they sold it to the U.S. Forest Service for the paltry sum of 3.5 milliion. In the early 1920's a resort was built there by the head of the CCI, William Mather, who had fallen hopelessly in love with the island and imported a variety of wildlife there. Unfortunately the hard winters proved to be too much for most of the imported wildlife. The only real survivors were the white tailed deer. The island intrigued me to the point of writing this novel of humor, intrigue and adventure. I hope you enjoy it!
