In The Last Resort we meet Clint Carlsson, an ex-Navy SEAL, who agrees to help an ex-colleague, Rusty, in the harvesting of some pearl oysters which, because of a storm have ended up in his marine life study area. They are not the only ones after the oysters, or the pearls they contain. The resulting struggle is a little brutal and tragic, and requires Clint to rely heavily on his old training to survive. We follow Clint through other exploits as his role as private investigator and bodyguard develops. He can be ruthless when required, especially when it means his survival, but he has a human side as attested to by the beautiful women who move in and out of his complicated life.
