It began the first day that Jessica Porter, her husband Sam, and her daughter Patience, moved into the charming old house in upstate New York.
First there was the old landlady who occupied the upper floor, but whose malevolent spirit seemed present in every nook and cranny. Next came the changes in Jessica's marriage, with Sam retreating more and more into his own protective shell.
