About This Book

Imagine that your smartphone is now an integral part of you with no off-switch and software modifies everything you see and hear. There is no reality but a personalized augmented reality that changes at whim to suit your mood. So what happens when you meet the one person left with natural eyes who tells you there is an actual reality behind the illusion? And if that reality was a living hell, would you want to know? Julia, designer of bodies for the most dedicated of fashion fanatics and Rob, possibly the last man on earth with human eyes, strike up a friendship after a chance meeting. Initially nothing more than mutual curiosity unites them as the certainties both had about life are challenged. Rob has his eyes opened to an entire world of human interaction that he has been excluded from. Julia is challenged by the idea that everything she values is simply a worthless illusion. But things take a darker turn when a friend of Julia's falls victim to self neglect and is hospitalized, Julia begins to realize that the world is truly not as she sees it and, rather than being an interesting diversion, her link to Rob may be the only way to stop a coming catastrophe. The whole system is breaking down and humanity itself is on the brink of becoming extinct. But protest and change is hard when the system is designed to prevent you from coming to harm by making the harm invisible. Death stalks the streets, but even the bodies are kept from sight. Rob and Julia have very little time to find a way to save humanity, while there is still some humanity left to save.
