With nothing to hold her in America, Paula jumped at the chance to see exotic Morocco, exhilarated that a little-known uncle bequeathed his estate to her. But her inheritance was the immense, decaying palace of Sultan Abdallah III--which she couldn't claim without adhering to Moroccan law--and the custom of bribery.
Abdou Daoud, her lawyer, and Mike, the gregarious tour leader, seemed eager to help--but their offers strangely never materalized. Only Warren, a mild-mannered man who'd guided her though Tangier, and Gerald, a lively English tourist, actively aided her.
But Warren had dropped out of sight soon afterwards while Gerald stuck to her like glue. Paula didn't mind. In fact she more than liked him--she just didn't trust him. She didn't trust anybody. Not after what had happened to her...
