Forgiveness...I've always heard that in conflict, there are usually two parties at fault. Rarely does one person hold all the blame, and I'm glad Maria figured that out in the end!
Grady was hurting badly after his wife's death. There is so much conflict surrounding her death. She had met a man in a Bible study and ran off with him, leaving her husband and two daughters behind. As hard as this is to understand, it really happens in real life. Unfortunately, a lot of the blame laid on Grady because he was a workaholic. He wasn't there for his family the way he should have been...
My favorite characters in this story were Amanda and Kelsey. They had a lot to deal with. It's understandable why Amanda behaved the way she did. After all, she'd lost her mother and her father was never there when she needed him. My heart ached for them, and I so loved watching their lives transform as Maria grew closer to them.
I also liked the conclusion to this story when Grady finally found the Lord after making a choice. Though the author overplayed the drama surrounding Grady and Maria's break up, I still felt that the reconciliation was great - as far as Grady was concerned.
