Amanda Greene doesn't fit in anywhere. Her mom has recently passed away, leaving her with a sad and lonely heart. But there is no one to turn to for comfort.

Amanda's father is often away on business trips. Her teenaged sister Jane treats her with cruel indifference. And school is no better, where she is constantly teased and tormented by bullies.

To escape reality, Amanda creates fantasy stories. At least she is safe there. But little does she know that her whole world is about to change. There's a forest she passes by on her way home from school, and suddenly it begins to catch her attention.

What she discovers there is a talking golden pebble. And now, her imagined world is turning into a new-fangled reality.
 
Dear Reader,

The Gold was originally just a two-page handwritten story I penned back in 1998, but then in 2016, the short story came back to me. I realized that there was so much more to tell.

This book #1 in The Magical Forest Series holds a precious place in my heart.
