After the drowning of her sister, nine year old Mary Jane Hall goes missing near her home in the backwoods of Arkansas, and presumed dead after a year of investigation. Foul play is suspected, but no body, clues or suspects could be found. Seventeen years later, Mary Jane appears in a vision to nine year old Stormy Taylor where she lives in Texas. As Mary Jane tries to give Stormy clues about her disappearance from 1951, Stormy tries to convince her parents that she's not making it all up. To get the notion out of Stormy's head, her parents make some inquiries regarding some of the information Stormy received from Mary Jane. To their surprise, what they find is information that Stormy had no way of knowing. Stormy is given clues that Mary Jane was murdered and that she has a sister that died. Eventually, as additional clues mounted, the police get involved to investigate the disappearance of Mary Jane. In one of Stormy's visions with Mary Jane, she is told that she can only make herself appear with a close family member, and that she is her sister. Puzzled, Stormy knows that she isn't related to Mary Jane, but a picture of Mary Jane's sister revealed a heart shaped birthmark on her arm in the exact place and shape as Stormy's. She also has a scar on her chin where she fell. Her name was Elizabeth and she died in 1950 from drowning in the creek behind her house. Eventually, Stormy, working with the FBI discovers who the killer of Mary Jane is and leads the police to her body, and then the capture of her killer. We're left wondering if somehow Mary Jane's dead sister is Elizabeth's spirit in Stormy. Can it be that Stormy is really Mary Jane's sister?
