The Fred Field — Barbara Hood Burgess

As seventh grade ends, Oren is haunted by the murder of his best friend, Fred, in the evil house that once stood next door. Now it's an empty lot filling up with trash. Oren has a brilliant idea -- to turn the lot into the Fred Lightfoot Memorial Ball Field. Soon the Bell family and their friends are flying high into summer.
