The Faces of Love
There were many faces of love, young Joella Nelson was to find. There was her sister Connie's selfish kind; there was the kind possessed by Joella's older sister, Babs, who had married young and was badly overworked, but who had an inner radiance that nothing could dim because she was married to the man she loved; there was Gracie Shaw's kind of love; Gracie had loved Joella's brother during her very young days and was still waiting patiently for the magic moment when Eric would ask her to marry him.

And there was Joella's kind of love--a love that could not exist without integrity, a love that would last her a lifetime. Joella was very sure of this, even is she had just finished her second her of college and was home for the summer to work for a woman who had, more than her own mother, been a mother to the girl, a woman known to everyone in Waitesville, as "R.I.," Quinn.

A new man was helping "R.I.," with the water works this summer. His name was "Red" Bishop, and he had a way with him that was devastating to the girls of Waitsville--in other words, Red had that indescribable quality known as charm. But it wasn't just Red's charm that drew Joella to him; at first, she liked him because he so obviously liked "R.I.," although he was quite out of patience with the woman because she was letting her business go to ruin. Arguing with R.I., he had about decided when Joella appeared on the scene, was wasted effort--and it was just as well for him to move on...

There was only one kind of love for young and exuberant Joella Nelson-a love that would last for a lifetime. She was sure of this, even if she had just finished her second year of college. What she wasn't sure of, though, were her feelings for tall, rugged Red Bishop.

Red was older than the boys Joella usually dated. A stranger in town, he had naturally attracted a great deal of attention. Joella could easily brush off the gossip-but how long could she ignore the truth? Red did have a special way with women. Was it possible that she had fallen victim to the charm of a man who did not really want her love?
