A young widow from the East inherits a large ranch in the state of Texas. Along with the ranch, she also inherits sizable amount of money. After making her decision, she leaves everything that she is familiar with, and takes only her constant companion, a Doberman pinscher named Lucifer. Upon arriving she soon learns that her inheritance involves an old Indian curse that has been placed on her newly acquired home. Dealing with the problems concerning the ranch, she meets a Texas Ranger, his lawyer friend, and an Indian ranch hand. She soon has difficulty in deciphering who is friend or who is foe. She is drawn to the Indian, whom she later realizes, by accident, is a powerful medicine man and a shape shifter. She is courted by the three men, each man with his own personal agenda. She must make a decision regarding the men and will ultimately try to rid the ranch of its longtime affliction of the evil that resides there. Is this the place to begin again, or will she die as every other member of the Rivers family has while living on the Triple R Ranch?
