When college seminarian Jessica Albertson discovers an ancient manuscript buried in the ruins of Egypt the young undergraduate gets more than what she bargains. Convinced that this artifact carbon-dated back to early B.C. may hold the key to humankind's existence, Jessica tries to sway skeptic Darrin Mitchell, another student theologian, into believing. Yet, he becomes resistant when he reads that the ancient Codex makes claims that all human life originated on Mars. Thereafter, things begin to get out of hand for Jessica who becomes ridiculed and persecuted by her peers before the administration denounces the validity of the manuscript. Alas, the plot thickens after a series of coincidences and outrageous attempts to confiscate the Codex which leads Jessica into a defiant search for the truth.
