William Shaston, the Earl of Shaston, is keeping a secret. Last Season, he was involved in a liaison. Afterward, he left London for the country. He returns to Town this Season, hoping to put it behind him. He was drawn to Brianna Ellsworth last year but fears he's now unworthy of her. Still, he presses his suit. He won't let another gentleman win her hand.

Brianna has favored Will for some time, and she sorely missed him when he disappeared last Season. His renewed attention is thrilling, and she suspects that he is the gentleman anonymously sending her red roses every day.
