The Americos Republic and the Grathian Empire are fast running out of oil which could see the financial and social collapse of their societies. The Cykam Empire of Africa however has an abundance of oil leading to the inevitable military tensions between these nations. The very first of the second generation human mutation, Jack Dayton, after his life altering experience with an entity from the planet Mars, has passed on his uncontrolled mind reading abilities to his daughter and grandson. But this is not an ability welcomed by the everyday public of Hobart.

Opening his eyes, Dain took off his shoes, lifted his sword in an attack position, and went through the martial arts of swordsmanship. The sword had long since been replaced by much more powerful weapons in this land, but the owner loved the grace and movement involved in its use.
He felt his body and the sword become one as he moved smoothly through the long grass, going through all the known fighting techniques.
Suddenly, his body movements became much more rigid as he felt the energy move up through his feet. Not the energy of the electricity moving through the ground from the tower, but energy that was indeed ancient.
Dain was only vaguely aware that his sword had now moved to a position more suited for throwing. His sword had become a spear, and ancient songs, heard in an unknown language, went through his mind as he began to dance on the plains.
He thought for a moment that he could see a number of the dark-coloured original Australians surrounding him, urging him on in his dance; behind them were more humans of various skin colours, some were huge in size and some small, others had strange elongated heads and there were even people who did not look human at all. But they were smiling at him encouragingly and even clapping their hands in time with the song.
Custodians, a voice whispered, the earth is ancient as are the custodians of the earth. Just because you have forgotten them does not mean that they did not exist.
