The Copyist — Jack Karasch

Middle-aged Abel Moreau lives most humbly in 1927 Chicago. Small of stature and lacking in confidence, he copies great works of art to perfection but believes he is incapable of producing such works himself. Contact with a self-possessed employee at a famous art museum leads to a relationship that could benefit both artist and curator.
