Nick Kuhnen is a Professor of Anthropology. He studies the ways of soldiers, warriors, and terrorists, but he'd never dream of becoming one. All he wants is to teach and study. U.S. President Max McVicar is a racist, a nationalist, and an ethnic-cleanser. and a closet fascist, with his own militia of bluejacketed thugs, the Keepers. He has an enemies list, and Nick is on it. A chain of unexpected circumstances, involving Russian and British secret agents, King William of England, the United Nations, the King's Own Scottish Borderers regiment, some antique military hardware, and a hacked website, forces Nick to drop his academic detachment and decide where he stands, what color coat he's wearing. Then and there, he accepts the responsibilities of a citizen. It is an adventure, a romance, a warning, and a story of personal growth.
