This is the story of a humble bookseller on Al-Mutanabi street in Baghdad, and how the Iraqi War ruins his life. His son runs off to join Al Queda to fight the American invaders, his wife is killed in a terrorist bombing of the local market, and his bookstore and apartment are blown up by a car bomb. Nevertheless, he gets up, dusts himself off, and prepares for his future of selling books.
