The Barking Deer — Jonathan Rubin

Twelve men, handpicked from the U.S. Special Forces, were sent into the mountains of to battle the Viet Cong for control of a strategic village. The village was home to Montagnard tribesmen, who didn't understand the war, and wanted no part of it. They were the people of the Barking Deer - torn to pieces between their two would-be defenders...the American Eagle and the Viet Cong Tiger. It was a war with too many enemies...and no winners.
