Talos: Crossroads of the Galaxy — Richard Pace
TALOS is a unique yet classic science fiction adventure. It begins with an expedition led by Jarvis to search for life on the far side of the galaxy. In reality, the expedition is simply a ploy by Rhoden to rid himself of his political adversaries and pave his way to absolute power.
Barely out of the starting gate, the Odyssey is attached by the military. An unlikely escape drops the crew of the Odyssey into a new world that can only be described as paradise. Rhoden's castaways flourish and develop a civilization of their own.
Eventually, the inevitable happens and paradise is discovered . . . the struggle begins. I highly recommend reading this book to get the rest of the story.
