Symphony in the Sky
When bright, ambitious Cheryl Stevens left nursing for high-altitude glamour as a stewardess, she turned her back on the only man she could ever love: dedicated, iron-willed Dr. Tom Peterson.

Blonde Cheryl Stevens has been a nurse for all of six months, but she had not lost the dream in her heart of becoming an airline stewardess. When she told her father, a prominent diagnostician, that she had applied for training and had been accepted, he was aghast; and when she told Tom, the intern with whom she had an “understanding,” he was shocked and very distressed at the idea of Cheryl's giving up her nursing profession, but she had committed herself, and she was determined to carry out her plans.

After six weeks of training in Dallas, Cheryl and her newfound friends, Vicki, and Jan, took an apartment not far from O'Hara Airport in Chicago, their home base. And then Cheryl had the thrill of working her first flight -- a trip to San Francisco, where Vickie's handsome brother, Biff, worked as a flight instructor. Cheryl had met Biff at the stewardesses' graduation and had immediately been drawn to his carefree, adventurous spirit, so opposite to Tom's serious, somewhat clinical nature. Their dates increased, yet Cheryl could not quite erase Tom's image from her mind.

A near disaster on a flight home from Mexico brings matters to an exciting climax in this story of a young girl's quest for self-fulfillment and happiness.
