As WWII nears its searing climax, Navy fighter pilot Swep Culhane returns to his home in Utah on medical furlough. But Prendregast is a small potato in a much larger stew of wartime black marketeering and ration-stamp counterfeiting that extends far beyond the confines of Utah.
