The story about Stripe the Cloud and Lizzie the Lamb sheds some insight about why it is important to listen carefully and pay attention to the experience and insight of those who have the responsibility of keeping us safe. Lizzie the Lamb wanders away from her mother as they graze in the meadow above the Village of Ticklefield that is near Featherwood Forest. Lizzie the Lamb finds that it is difficult for her to find her way back home. In the meantime, her mother is worried that something has happened to her little Lizzie the Lamb and searches the field trying to find her. Meanwhile, up in the Rainbow Arches Nursery School that sits in the sky above Featherwood Forest, Stripe the Cloud has been given his homework assignment from Mrs. Cloudburst. He has to help someone on his way home from The Rainbow Arches Nursery School. Stripe helps Lizzie the Lamb to get home. Lizzie the Lamb learns an important lesson from her time outside the field. After her hard trip home, she understands that it is important to listen and to follow directions. Witty the wise old owl who sits atop the highest tree in Featherwood Forest is happy that Lizzie the Lamb has learned these lessons and is safely home with the help of Stripe the Cloud. Ann Ferry is an attorney who practices law in Boston Juvenile Court in Boston, Massachusetts.
