Jake Roberts started shrimping out of Key West with Bull Brothers in the Sixties when Bull bought his first shrimp trawler. Henry, Corky and Cat finally tracked them down wasting time at Higgs Beach. They agreed to get together for dinner and drinks at Turtle Kraals after sunset.

Come hell or high water, tonight, Henry's telling Jake that Corky's his biological son. What happens then, they'll see. Corky hitchhiked five hundred miles to meet Jake with Cat tagging along after he met her in Key Largo. Corky wants acceptance from a man he's never known and searching for the roots to his past. Cat is running from hers.

After renting a motel room, Cat decides to go clothes shopping. Henry, tired of Corky's whining leaves for drinks at Rumrunners to sort out his own thoughts on the novel percolating in his mind and to call his girlfriend again. Earlier, before they left for Key West, they stopped for breakfast where Finee works but she had went home sick. Henry left her a message saying he was going to see Jake in Key West but he didn't say why or with who.

Barely, eight hours in Key West and the island is changing all three of them. When Henry returns to the room, Corky has shed his Levi's and boots for sandals, shorts and a tropical print shirt. Cat's metamorphosis is even more a shocking chrysalis when she comes back from a beauty salon on Duval.

Henry's feeling tonight at the Turtle is going to be interesting. When the sun goes down and the night's denizens come out to play, evenings in Key West are always entertaining. Chum up the water with Jake and Bull's company and if nothing else, there's usually a party but tonight anything might happen.
