Early civilizations were extremely cruel. Many wars were fought for territory and control. The concept of religion surfaced in order to establish ethical and moral standards that would bring peace, order, and civility to a violent world. The first pioneers in this effort were Abram and Sarai, who attempted to establish the Jewish religion. This book describes the four-thousand-year-old struggle to achieve this goal, a work in progress to this day, as Judaism still strives and as other religions have surfaced over time.
