In 1855, Loretta becomes a famous Latin dancer, touring the Goldmining towns of California and Nevada. Later, she acts on stage in San Francisco, and continues her fame. However, while traveling back to Nevada, she is captured by the Paiutes, and when they see her dance, they believe she is a Spirit Dancer.When Loretta meets Big Wolf, being forced to dance for the Paiutes, is the least of her worries. When she finally has an opportunity to leave, she has to choose between her love for Big Wolf, and her love for the stage.
