This is a story about a kind family and their concern for a dog that wandered onto their property and hid herself in a pile of leaves. The young sister finds the dog and the family realizes she's about to have puppies. They bring her into the house - they help her, feed her and keep her warm. The family cares for the mother dog and her puppies. After the puppies leave and go to new homes the mother dog becomes fond of her new family. A new neighbor moves next door and the young girl cannot see to play with the other children. She forms a bond with Skippy the neighbor's dog and Skippy becomes Sarah's see and eye dog. As time goes on Sarah is called into the hospital for an eye operation and it's very successful. When she returns home she is anxious to see Skippy. Skippy is happy to see the sparkle in Sarah's eyes and knows she can see her. Sarah returns Skippy to her rightful owner, but they all remain friends and share the love and friendship with the neighbors and the dog. A happy ending for all.
